Are people who say RE4 "killed" the series the most colossal faggots ever to exist?

Yes.

The series died with 5 even if 5 was a fun game.

How old are you OP?

It killed the 'classic' RE series, but was a great game on it's own merit.

I think it's a valid point to make.

>the series died with x, even though x was a good game
These people are just as bad. The series has to die on a bad game. Furthermore, if a series is still going it isn't dead because there is still the chance of good games in the future.

Re4 is the best RE game and one of the best games of all time

I personally think the live action movies are whats killing this series reputation, not the games.

The series died with wesker

Resident Evil 4 was the Modern Warfare of the RE franchise.

The direction RE4 took was the responsible of RE5 and RE6 going on increasing action routes.

RE4 killed the series.

And it wasnt the gamecube fags, it was the ps2 babies overrating every fucking ps2 title. Just like Nocturne, probably one of the worst SMT main line titles but this kids will always claim how it was better because lol 3d models and ps2

when will this flavor of the month end. It's fucking annoying how this board circlejerks everything vidya relayed til it's run down to the ground.

DUDE REMAKE LUL
>RESIDENT EVIL ZERO? YOU MEAN THE ORIGINAL?
DUDE (YOU)s LMAO
>What is the best loadout?? what is the best load out? what is the best loadout???
Ive always loved resident evil 4*updoots* and love how it finally came to next gen, Ganados? You mean gannondorf?
>DUDE THAT OGRE "THE BIG CHEESE" IS SO SCARY

RE4, RE5, and RE6 are some of the best selling games Capcom have ever made. The only people who think that trilogy "killed" the series are massive genre faggots who can't accept that game series have no obligation to follow a genre.

This

>The direction RE4 took was the responsible of RE5 and RE6 going on increasing action routes.
And you're trying to say... this was a bad thing?

As someone who played literally all RE games in every fucking console, yes. RE4,5,6 are horrible and should have been spinoffs.

Frankly I would have preferred 4 being a code veronica like titled game since it barely has anything to do with the overarching plot and gameplay of the series until that point.

>Frankly I would have preferred 4 being a code veronica like titled game since it barely has anything to do with the overarching plot and gameplay of the series until that point.
It stars Leon. Resident Evil is about fighting bio organic weapons. That's it. That's the entire RE storyline. And every single RE game focuses on that.
That's why RE6's narrative makes perfect sense when you're Chris and you're fighting creatures with full human intelligence in Edonia and then you meet Wesker's son, Troy Baker.

The plaglas are not a scientific creation, they are literally supernatural monsters. It has shit to do with umbrella.

>The plaglas are not a scientific creation, they are literally supernatural monsters.
Supernatural? They're a parasite.
>It has shit to do with umbrella.
So? Umbrella isn't crucial to the RE storyline. They're just one of many biotech corporations. The moment they were gone, other biotech corporations swooped in to take over.

Bruh

>Umbrella isn't crucial to the RE storyline
OUT

Mikami leaving killed the series

Guys, come on, I love the original RE games to death, but do you really expect them to rehash the same concepts for ten games? Umbrella had to go sooner or later.

Yeah. Code: Veronica and Zero killed the series.

Umbrella never really went away though. They still had a big presence in RE5 and RE6, and will have a connection in RE7.

>Umbrella never really went away though. They still had a big presence in RE5 and RE6
They're completely absent from RE5 and RE6. TRICELL took over in RE5, and RE6's "Neo-Umbrella" is just bait.

"The Family" are the key player in the RE universe. They nuked Raccoon City. They were Ada Wong's original employers.

There was nothing to ruin really. RE1 was a neat game, and RE2 was the bigger/badder T2/D2X sequel that ditched all the atmosphere for better gameplay/setpieces. It was a stale formula by RE3 already. If RE4 was have been another tank simulator with prerendered backgrounds, it would have been tired as fuck. RE4 might have killed Classic Resident Evil, but more faithful sequels would have killed it too.

It was the right choice. They reintroduce Classic RE games as budget titles or to confiscate the series lead.

4 only happened because Dead Aim got positive reception. And before that Code Veronica was already actiony as fuck with faster shooting, metric fuck tons of ammunition, weapons that gave you a first person view, etc. And even before that, 3 had more boss fights, and dodging.

The series was getting more and more action oriented since the PS1, bit by bit until it was 4 onward. The only games that went the opposite direction were RE:Make and 0, one of which didn't do very well.

>And even before that, 3 had more boss fights, and dodging.

Might as well go a step further and include RE2 giving you enough ammo to kill everything in the game two or three times over.
