XCOM 2

how is this game now? it's 45% off on Bundle Stars

Comming out on ps4 this month.it bugs me to pay 60 for a game that came months ago.not sure if i can resist.

When i played it i thought it was pretty cool.
The end part is pretty buggy though, with some alien A.I breaking, wonky animations and also textures turning into sea of blinking colors.

That's how the last mission was like back when the game was new, dunno if they have patched it by now.

Great game, sunk scores of hours into it so yeah, go for it

cool, but I heard it was unoptimized
and frankly I'm waiting for a good mod like Long War

It's horribly optimized and my 560ti really shows its age with this game

Had fun but not going back to it until I get a new GPU. Also I didn't have the DLC's so I don't know if the mech class is good or not

Thats interesting, The flashing texture colour thing you said.
Ive never had that error modless when the game came out, but the current Co-op mod has that same error as a bug with it installed. I wonder if theyre somehow related. I dont think they currently know how to fix it

Search for Grimy or Long War or Better Advent or any scores of rebalancing mods either on Steam or Nexus.

Nobody's going to make a full conversion mod for XCOM 2, but the mod scene has developed into something amazing. I bought XCOM 2 day one but put it down after a few weeks due to bugs and shitty optimization, but I went back to it a month ago and it was a completely different, fun as dicks game with the patches and mods.

That said, don't buy the PS4 version, you won't be able to make your 8 man squad into Halo SPARTANS with custom guns.

They have improved the performance significantly. At launch it was pretty much unplayable yeah, not to mention all the game breaking bugs some of which still exist.

Good game now though.

oh, no way, I don't have a PS4.

I played it a month ago though

Addendum, there's a chap who is porting Mass Effect weapons and characters into the game and if you were ever annoyed by how Mass Effect only gave you 2 squadmates on any given mission despite having an entire team of operatives, load up Shepard and crew in XCOM 2 and wreck ADVENT with a full squad of your choosing.

Well yeah but you're using a 560ti.

not him, but I'm using a 750Ti. I shouldn't have problems, and even if I did, I'd just crank that shit to low. maybe.

>mech class is good or not
I wasn't too impressed, jack of many master of none.
They can give mobile full cover and be taken to missions while not being full health so there's that.

Though given a choice I'd still take a grenadier over them, war/exo suit or not.

>mechs

They're worth it. Eventually your regular soldiers will outclass them handily because they get more and better abilities but in the early and mid game, they're a godsend that can perform any role you need it to.

It's a great scout because it's tough and has armor, it can punch shit like a Ranger, it has a rocket like a Grenadier, and it can hack objectives in a pinch like a Specialist. Until you start fielding entire teams of Captains and above with T3 armor, there's no real reason to ever sideline it.

Someone should mod in SHIVs

Maybe that was my problem at , maybe I should give another try and do that mission a bit earlier.

haha no unless you have a gtx 1080

runs like ass, tons of bugs and a lot more randomness. even though there are some cool mechanics enemy unknown is much better.

Shit game because every map is a timed mission and most of the maps are rescue missions as well.
So you have infinitely respawning enemies, an escort mission with a timer.
Also snipers that spec into long range are useless since you will be forced to leave them behind on nearly every map so you have to spec handgun with them.

ignore everything this shitter just said

Why are the sectoids so damn sexy?

>not having snipers in both trees
>not having the grappling hook to give yourself free moves that still let you first action fire
>not modding whatever parameters you want into the game
Top pleb

>This poster was the administrator of Advent

>not liking cute sectoids

Big improvement over EU
Shit ton of decent mods available on the steam workshop which expand on the game which would easily be paid DLC for another game

My only real complaint is that the creepy atmosphere is sort of absent this time around.

Must buy for PC

Let me tell you what you can do with your ayys.

I spent more effort taking screenshots than playing the game.

Damn good game for screenshots.

>havent played XCOM 2 in onths, look at the modding scene now and start a new campaign
>download specops mod class
>grimys loot mod
>stealth modifier
>get suppressors for weapons that dont break concealment if you kill them
>make an entire squad of spec ops soldiers
>tfw ghost special ops unit that has not been seen since the 5th mission yet halfway through the campaign

Probably my GOTY so far.

XCOM 2 fans can you go into a little bit more detail as to what you liked about XCOM 2?

I liked EU a lot (though only did C/I with and without EW) but even at 45% off I find it hard to justify spending $32 on a game.

I generally only spend $25 at most

I fucking hate gatecrasher. That is all.

>I find it hard to justify spending $32 on a game.
why

they look kinda like MSF soldiers

did i get cucked buying the season pass? i thought there was going to be a large expansion like the first

havent played for months

>XCOM 2 fans can you go into a little bit more detail as to what you liked about XCOM 2?
Alpha striking everything into oblivion.

It's been less than a year from the release of the game

EW came like two years after EU

Living very cheap for the next few months and trying to focus more on my studies. If I bought xcom 2 now I could probably only play it very little over the next few months if at all

They've said there will be one in a long while, but not soon and the season pass wasn't for it anyway. It was for the three add on DLC that give you more missions, weapons, new classes etc. Personally don't regret the purchase at all.

>EW came like two years after EU
Year and a month says Steam.

I think it's a really great game.

Most complaints you'll be hearing are about the timed missions, but those become a non-issue after the first two times you finish one. I had no idea how much research they put into finding the right amount of turns per game, but I regularly finish missions with 1 turn remaining on the timer. It gets really fun.

I suggest playing the game without Alien Hunters DLC or any non-quality of life mods when you play it the first time.

Also, be sure to check out /xcg/ for info.

Post custom qt's

Also, bladestorm or implacable? My first run

>tfw I named 3 of my characters after Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pulman

>STALKER and XCOM 2 competing for best name generation

Russian bandit named German Beekeeper or a tough alien mission codenamed Operation Sweaty Druid. Tough choice.

That would be because someone added MSF balaclavas to the game.

>first mission I play in game
>operation: iron stank

I liked the way how you could specialize your soldiers into different character classes, like your marksman could become a sniper or a revolver ocelot, or your scout could become shotgun toting sneaker or raiden.

Depends, bladestorm if you wanna go all RULES OF NATURE on your enemies, implacable if you want to be a sneaky shotgunner.

Bladestorm is good for when a Muton or Archon runs up and gets in your shit, because you can hit them with a potentially lethal melee attack just before they melee you. Alternatively, stick a soldier with Bladestorm beside a doorway one tile wide. They'll auto-attack anything that comes through it.

Implacable is good for getting a soldier in for a killshot that would leave them exposed, but then retreating out of danger like a troll.

Personally, I use Implacable most of the time now. Just remember to equip your Rangers with any kind of Speed PCS. They get more movement range, and with Implacable they can zoom in, kill something, and zoom back out at other soldier's Dash ranges. For added hilarity, Run and Gun so you can dash then shoot, then run back halfway with Implacable.

Play Long War instead

Operation Black Face in south Africa is pretty good.
