It's not that hard. It's like learning to tie a tie. Seems really hard at first but then very easy in retrospect.

Step 1: Place the first chopstick snug into the groove between your thumb and index finger. Brace this chopstick into place with the tip of your thumb and tip of your ring finger.

Step 2: Hold the remaining chopstick with the tips of your thumb, middle and index finger. Wiggle the index and middle finger to move the top stick up and down.

The most important things are keeping the bottom stick braced and unmoving, snug in the groove of your thumb toward the fat end and tip of your ring finger toward the skinny end. Only the top stick has to move.

At least that's how I hold them.
