These cultures don't disappear. It's mostly a regional thing. Of course there will be some Pizzerias and Belgium Chocolate stores etc. but it's nice. I like to eat different foods. It's a mutual enrichment and every culture is stronger than ever as part of a strong whole with its own particularities.

Same for an open europe, while people can have a global european identity, they will still enjoy their own regional culture and food and everybody else will too in a big exchange.

I travelled all across the world and there is some homogeneity across Europe.
You guys probably don't see it, as you are very focused on your small differences and take all that is similar for granted, but it is there.
Of course there is a lot of heterogeneity, but there is also a lot inside your own countries.
Europe is a collection of hundreads of small regions with each their own traditions, culture and sometime own language. But this patchwork is united by very strong common values.
There is a passion for your tradition that is true everywhere. Basque people, Frisons, Danes, Napolitans, Kosovars etc all wish to preserve their traditional costumes, music and tradition.
This preservation of heritage has been completely absent in latin america for example, we are only recently importing it and there is little to be salvaged. in Asia it disapeared during the 60s and 70's too and is now only returning.

Food, the europeans have a very unique approach of food, you guys knew to modernize your agriculture and become a strong agricultural and food exporter to challenge the US, but at the same time there is a passion for local products and varieties, a love for "terroir" that is true all across the continent.

There is a strong focus on litterate culture too, and on heritage and history. Living among the remains of what has become the western civilization is something pretty unique in the world. We all learn about your battles and kingsm while for you, it's just a matter on stepping on these famous places for your holidays or weekends (or even daily!).

We welcomed a french student once, I was telling her about the place where the german capitulation was signed at the end of WWII and she was like, "oh, I went to highschool there"
Also, the house where her family lived was like older than the mexican constitution.
It gives you guy a strong sense of belonging and a different perception of time.

Most countries are reducing budgets or wouldnt be able to sustain a proper military on their own due to small size. Some things can be shared or mutualized to reduce costs because of scale savings.

nearly all european nations operate together when they have to do something militarily, except for the french and brits who like to go alone (reliquate of colonial empires). THe former are strongly reducing their budget and will probably have to stop doing it, and the later will exit europe anyway.
