Hallo, guten Morgen meine Freunde. I think the British TV made some series for German learners. If you want a challenge, then Tatort, Mord mit Aussicht... Or watch American series with German dub. Try to access to Netflix Germany with a VPN
Listen to "Mein Schwester Clara"
It's a series of audio plays for kids and they talk slowly, I used to love it when I was a lil youngin meself.
I think this one is on YouTube in full, uploaded by various users

Do Germans dislike it when someone tries learning their language? I consider my German to be OK, probably could hold a short conversation, might forget some words, but still. I tried talking with some guys in an online game and they urged me to immediately stop talking because its shit.
nice
No most Germans appreciate it. But we are likely to avoid forcing to speak German. I mean when someone tries to improve his German by talking to a German, he will mostly switch to English or something else to make it easier for the nonnative German speaker
I appreciate seeing that someone appreciates German or Germany. I think Russian accent sounds sexy, does Serbian accent sound similar? Could you vacaroo something for me? :3

Wie geht es Ihnen

Welch anmutige Ziffern.

Seriously though, this show was great.
*schwedisch bin
Ja, Deutsch ist nicht einfach, aber schön.
Why do you want to learn German and not Spanish? Around 60 percent of Germans can speak English, which makes it useless.
Swedish wouldn't be so easy for me as well I assume. It's funny however to translate random words from German into Swedish, too check if they are almost the same.
If you come up with this argument it would be useless to learn any other language except English. Any person you want to have a conversation with will speak English except they're some lower class shit.
Swedish is just like English, very primitive.
Still not everyone can speak English, especially in Russia and Spain etc.
>Russia and Spain
You are just proving his point, also the Spaniards and Russians english speakers will come into contact with will most likely speak English.
That's something to consider if you're visiting a country. If you're visiting a Scandinavian one for example, you might be able to get around quite easily with just English. But learning a language also allows for more stuff, such as literature, music or movies in their original language. And even so, if he's going to Germany, he'll be able to talk with more people if he knows German. And Russian of Spanish will be quite useless there.
Schwedisch ist aber auch schön.
why do people learn german?
they already speak english and if they don't they're dopey cunts
learn something useful
Oh danke :3
Danke :3
I have this selfish wish of mine to one day emigrate to a German speaking country where i can be paid properly for the career path i wish to pursue. It's only logical to adapt to the situation and not expect others to adapt to you, so that is my reason for improving my German.
>Everyone there knows English.
It doesn't make German useless.
Why Swiss German is different from Germany German?
You can come here
thanks, desu
beacuse of the Neutral
It's the thin air up there in the mountains
youtu.be
Can you guys understand their German?
Können sie euch verstehen?
Depends on how thick their Swiss German is.
First time I went there I had a hard time understanding anything.
Now I can understand most of it, unless it's some mountain hick talking - but I've been there every year for nearly a decade.
They speak an okay High German as well and will often use it on you, so that makes understanding easier but learning to speak it yourself pretty hard. I can kind of do it but I only use it jokingly with friends since I don't want to offend people by appearing to mock their speech.
The worst thing by the way is them typing in Swiss German in chats/social networks. Now that shit shouldn't be allowed.
Sie uns ohne Probleme, ja.
REEEE
is it as hard to understand high bavarian as well?
i heard schwarzenegger wasn't alowed to dub the terminator into german because he sounds like a farmer
you are a nigger tier dumbshit why do you even learn german? you are a native english speaker and german is literally useless even in south korea students dislike to learn german it's powerless
Germany is going to hell in a handbasket. I'd suggest learning another language
t. someone who had just spent the past few years living there
Switzerland and Austria still exist.
How hard is Spanish for an English speaker?
Could you recommend some German books and films?
>is it as hard to understand high bavarian as well?
don't think high bavarian is a thing m8 but as for bavarian: yes, fully-fledged bavarian can be almost unintelligible as well
but in my impression the city-dwelling youth at least tends to have only a moderate dialect that's easy to understand, whereas the same can't be said in the case of Switzerland
>i heard schwarzenegger wasn't alowed to dub the terminator into german because he sounds like a farmer
kek
he's austrian, though, so that's a little different in sound still
these southern dialects tend to sound somewhat funny to german-speaking outsiders so I could see them not wanting a humorless action hero to sound that way
ok

you're welcome
It's hard for a Canadian to get established in Switzerland and Austria isn't too far behind Germany in terms of being fucked. I'll admit your country doesn't seem to be as utterly bent on its destruction as Germany is
Yes, if you can fight the urge to kill people that talk like that without being as cute as Miriam
As said, yes they can. REEEEEEEE
Bros I'm moving to Vienna in a few months. Anyone got some tips or resources to learning Austrian? I looking it up and couldn't understand a word.
Don't they speak German or do you want to know their dialect?

List with German films you should watch:

Das Leben der Anderen

Maybe missed some, but these are some of the best
Can you make a list about German books?
For beginners I would choose something from Uwe Timm, that's quite simple reading if our want to go for modern stuff. If you want something that's easy but with more quality I'd recommend Ottfried Preußler oder Michael Ende. For fantasy you should try Walter Mörs.
If you are a more advanced reader I'd go for Heinrich Heine, the level is a little higher also Hesse, Grass or Mann.
This is quite a nice list:
