>I cant pronounce "world"
I cant pronounce "world"
ignore the r
pronounce it like "wuld" and it's fine
is that how you pronounce it
maybe the u is like a mixture of u and e
"weuhld". i dunno how to explain lel. and i can't vocaroo sorry. but i don't pronounce the r and many don't, it's completely fine
Around here it's pretty much the same as "whirl" with a d on the end
it's just natural, don't try to pronounce "world" specifically because you will get stuck, just try to say things like "discovery world" or the word "world" inside sentences and try to ignore it
It's pronounced "world", not "world", dumbass.
Pronounce it like "whirled"
This pretty much, or "whirled" as in "He whirled her around."
>but i don't pronounce the r and many don't
Then again, you're British, so don't you guys ignore the r on most words?
worrd
I pronounce it "Weurled"
Lel
yes
It's completely fine and understandable to leave the r our if you're having problems pronouncing it in certain words.
>non-rhotic dialects of english
Hola!
Fair enough.
Are there that many rhotic dialects of English outside of the US, Canada, and Ireland?
this is more difficult than just pronouncing the r tbqh
>It's completely fine and understandable to leave the r our if you're having problems pronouncing it in certain words.
Going between rhotic and non-rhotic pronunciation would be jarring and like most ESLs I'll assume OP is going for an American accent.
OP: Just keep it at m8. You should feel your tongue sliding back towards the back of your mouth as you go into the 'r' sound and then smoothly push the tip of your tongue back onto your teeth to transition into the 'l' sound.
Oi
I say whirled, but without any indication of the h

Brum, even stil nou, de volwassenen zijn aan het woord
>"wuld"
it's more like /w e: l d/ though, with long e
The h in wh isn't usually pronounced anyway other than in the South; whirled = world.

This is why I hate British English. Pronounce the fucking r!
