If you're lucky it's just your shift linkage that came loose. Crawl under and find the shift linkage you might be able to pop that bolt back in

Shift linkage should be 2 bars going from the shifter to your transmission

You can also take the rubber boot off from the shifter and check the bolt there

I can kind of feel it, but I have to pull up on the shifer to get it to connect,, and even then, It doesnt sound like it is going in all the way.

thats the bolt that holds to up-end of the grammeter with the lower end of the tremmy pipe, really important to counteracting side fumbling.

Looks like you have an automatic and that is a bolt belonging to linkage. Jack it up and look for something out of place, its probably stuck between gears

The bolt is a shifter handle bolt. Not sure what the gear like nut is for.

Can you put it in any gear?

UPDATE::: I was able to pop it into the upper gears (1,3,6) after I wiggle the hadle, I got it up to my family cabin. I am not going to freeze to death in my car tonight.

Yeah I know, It seems like it is just some sort of basic connection to the actual handle. I’m going to have to look more into it tomorrow , when it is light out.

Did you put the bolt back in?

You need to find that shift linkage and somehow get your fingers in there to at least finger tighten it.

you going to have to take off the top of the transmission (where the shifter goes into the trans)
re-align the shifter forks, push the big 12 point bolt back inside the trans, then tighten the fork with the 10mm bolt.
