They are the first to go when low on food and willfully get killed and picked apart to feed the Queen if she is hungry and the ants don't have food.
Its all so tightly knit, so much trust and community its crazy. The way the come together and not hesitate to sacrifice themselves for the colony.
If humans could act like ants for a day and stick to there corresponding colonies and work together the world would look VERY different.
