They're the best things on Earth.

>MIRV
I love that shit

did you just learn of this? Are you 10?

We had an entire era where the whole world was holding itself hostage with these, the cold war. Go google that.

So what, are they so broke they're giving up on subs?

Wtf Russia explain your self

These things are why we don't have anymore world wars.

50 milion in few hours? How is it possible? Maybe 10/15 milion if dropped in paris or london

I just saved this and already get to use it.

Its called finding something interesting.

H-hello Ivan can we be friends again...?

Of course you're rightful Russian clay after all :^)

bump, without sage in options field, just because

It's ICBMs you have to worry about, if you're an American. Not necessarily nukes. Without a delivery method, nukes can't touch us. When a country has ICBMs, then we could be in trouble. Not to discount the well-being of our allies, but wars have been sold here on the basis of weapons of mass destruction, which, in reality, couldn't possibly touch us.

not real. nukes are a hoax.

Not even worried t b h

Immunizing these threads is the best way to kill them

Settle down there, Ivory Coast.

Burgerland has enough nuclear weapons under the Atlantic in missile subs to kill every Russian and Chinese on Earth in the case that a nuclear war breaks out.

>had

This is not very impressive desu.

It seems to me like the western medias were trying to scare people and make them afraid of Russia.

The only secure launchers are subs. This is all you need, if you have enough. But it's expensive.

And these ICBMs are based on old technology it seems. You'd think the ballistic shield they deployed in this region would have been specifically designed for those. There's no way they wouldn't have known and taken into consideration developments in evasion and counter measures.

They were just trying to make us accept their defense systems deployment. Which is fine I guess.

That's what you shoot them down with a THAAD.

>Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), formerly Theater High Altitude Area Defense, is a United States Army anti-ballistic missile system designed to shoot down short, medium, and intermediate range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase using a hit-to-kill approach.

Death to Americans and Brits!

if theres something that russia fears its homosexuals which sweden has plenty!

who has the 9 bikes in baltics who is superior?

>25 bicycles
I'm fucking dying here

Nice, so instead of blowing up we just get tons of radioactive shit raining down on us from the nuke exploding in midair

Estonia, they are all stolen from finland tho

they are the niggers of the balts fuck em

cant compete with the fucking Shagohod tho

>radioactive shit raining down on us
Those missiles are kinetic and there's a good chance the nukes won't go off.
But even if they do, in high altitude, the radiation will just radiate and it won't be THAT bad. The problem is when the radiation gets absorbed by material on the ground. The closer the explosion is to the ground, the more radioactive it will become. And a lot of it will get propelled into the air that's what causes nuclear fallout and black rain. It makes the radiation stick around. There would be much less of it if it explodes in high altitude.
Just duck and cover bro.

kek

Of course buddy. Give us all the damage control about your thuuud shooting down missiles fired from bumfuck nowhere Siberia.

fucking imbecile

Hell yeah

You don't need subs when you have these things, just hide them in the bush and play your accordion until the Kremlin rings.

Top kek

>designed to shoot down short, medium, and intermediate range ballistic missiles
We don't have enough of them anyway.

when these are fired, It's controlled remotely im assuming. And if so wouldn't it be the best strategy/deterance would be to virtually try and find a way to detonate this whilst their on route to wherever. prior to take off? kinda like the space x tinfoil thingy. seems kinda stupid to have mobile nuke is all. Incredibly vulnerable.

The shit, mate? Mobile nukes have the advantage in that they are mobile, meaning that the yanks cannot pre-sight their nukes to destroy them.

This is exactly the rationale behind the nuclear armed submarines.

The trajectories would be programmed into the missile's computer which would guide the missile to the target.

The best place to attack a nuclear missile is in the ascent phase. Good luck with that.

Thankfully all nuclear armed countries know that an attack on another nuclear armed country means an all out nuclear strike on their country. Mutually Assured Destruction.

The missiles are autonomous once they are fired. It's probably not even possible to have them self-destruct on command once they are fired either.

Authority to launch the missiles is distributed to discourage against "decapitating strikes". At some point authorization to launch might have been dispensed automatically if monitoring systems detected a nuclear attack.

And they'll fire wherever they are. They keep them mobile to make them harder to locate. But the US probably tracks them easily enough.

>550kt

Big fucking deal. That shit could explode at the bottom of my street and I wouldn't even know about it.

>hit, mate? Mobile nukes have the advantage in that they are mobile, meaning that the yanks cannot pre-sight their nukes to destroy them.
>This is exactly the rationale behind the nuclear armed submarines.
>The trajectories would be programmed into the missile's computer which would guide the missile to the target.
>The best place to attack a nuclear missile is in the ascent phase. Good luck with that.
>Thankfully all nuclear armed countries know that an attack on another nuclear armed country means an all out nuclear strike on their country. Mutually Assured Destruction.

The point is this type of system can only have partial success, which wouldn't matter in a nuclear war. The only benefit it gives is the Russian have to assign more missiles to major targets to assure destruction, hence sparing secondary targets.

A massed MIRV attack amounts to dozens to hundreds of warheads raining down a target.

That being said, the Topol-M carries a single strategic warhead, but can be fitted with a MIRV unit with tactical warheads.

Russia is essentially landlocked

Maybe for trade (I get that most of their trade routes could be easily cut off and they don't like that), but for their subs surely they don't mind the arctic ocean?

Has anyone said NOPE yet in this thread?
If not...NOPE

eesti niggers of course

Have to agree with Latvians here. Estonians really are worst nigger scum of baltics.

Intermediate range ballistic missiles aren't ICBMs. Theres no defence against ICBM reentry in the terminal phase. That's why US is putting missile defenses in poland/romania etc. Because shooting down ICBMs in the launch stages is possible.

thats not how nukes work. they're extremely complex and undergo a very specific multi stage detonation (happening in millionths of a second). if even the slighest of things goes wrong the nuke will not detonate, or just 'fizzle'. for example any outside explosion would simply tear the nuke apart, since only an extremely precise spherical implosion of the plutonium core can get it to reach supercriticality.

nukes in fact have built in conventional explosives that explode in the wrong sequence, thus preventing spherical implosion which in turn means the plutonium never reaches a supercritical state and thus no nuclear chain reaction ever occurs.

>the way the atmosphere vaporizes from the blast and heat.

Why are nukes so beautiful?

>kiwi intellectuals

Loving. Every. Laugh.

Nah they just delay the inevitable paddy.
Did you know several celt-americans were involved in the Manhattan project. In fact 2 commanders of the project were half Irish (the military commanders not oppenheimer)

I like this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Hand_(nuclear_war) thing better.

...

There should be no doubt in your mine that everything has been Re-MIRV'd on both sides of the aisle, basically all of the nuke deals from the cold war have been broken and everything since the end of the cold war has failed ratification.

Imagine being one of the first motherfuckers on the planet Earth to see one of these go off.

Even better, imagine being a scientist on the Manhattan project and seeing this.

I think I would cry from the sheer beauty and terror that was unleashed on the world.

Before nukes, even the most terrible war was something that could still be recovered from. Humanity could keep marching on, and learn from their mistakes.

After the nuclear genie was let out of the bottle, the very real possibility of total obliteration of all human life on the planet earth was staring everyone in the face. The first ones to realize what they had done, would have most certainly been the scientists working on the project.

>We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

-J. Robert Oppenheimer

Technically there is an (ineffective) counter to re-entry terminal - a system similar to a CIWS - actually basically a 30mm Goalkeeper CIWS with some adapted naval missile killing missile as a secondary.
And it required much more computing horsepower and radar array than a normal system.
It can actually engage and take out the nuke, the problem is the nuke still detonates mere feet above it's designated detonation altitude (nukes are airbursters, ground dets are less effective) but even then the failure rate (miss rate) was incredibly high

>But the US probably tracks them easily enough.
US can't track russian invasion to Ukraine during the last two years.

Failsafes work both ways, you act like engineers during the cold war didn't think of this shit.
Terminal phase is waay past the window to self destruct a nuke in flight

lol they are watching every footstep

The Russian invasion and occupation of Ukraine was one of the best possible intelligence gathering opportunities for the USA in the last decade. The air war over Syria and Iraq is also an example of 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours'.

Nobody gives a fuck about Ukraine. Letting it get dicked was valuable to the USA as an opportunity to examine modern Russian military capabilities and tactics.

Additionally, the USA will offer tepid support the Ukrainian counter insurgency for years to come as a thorn in Russia's side. Occupations are expensive, messy, and leak classified intel. USA slurps it all up.

This is one of my favorite ICBM launch vids. There's something very eerie and realistic about it. No faggy BGM, no chatter, just the silence of an early morning on a remote Siberian nuclear base in the middle of dense taiga broken only by the alarm siren and the sounds of the launcher. This is how it will end.

Ohio-class submarine:

24 missiles with 12 MIRV warheads each.

288 warheads per submarine.

There are 14 submarines. 1 of them can destroy a whole country.

Humans are fucking crazy, man. We've created the tools of our own destruction... and not just the destruction of Americans, or Russians, or Chinese, but of every human, everywhere... the ability to end our entire species in a few, short hours. It makes no sense. We're too clever for our own good.

can any one explain how it works?
like, whats inside. is that one big bomb or does it have little bombs inside.
also whats this decoy and evasion bit?
tl dr anyone please

>is that one big bomb or does it have little bombs inside
It's one big bomb, but it can be configured for multiple smaller bombs that split off and hit multiple targets (MIRVs)

>also whats this decoy and evasion bit?
Decoys would be something like chaff that confuses the lock-on systems missiles use. The evasion just means it can steer out of the way of anything that's trying to shoot it down.

In the tube is a giant missile. Normaly the missile has 1 warhead.

Modern nukes are 1 missile with multiple mirv warheads. Every warhead can attack a different target.

So ballistic submarines have hundrets of warheads that all could strike different targets. thats why there will never be a war between teh power who have them. No one knows were the submarines are and even when you effectivly glass the enemy nation you are still doomed.

>he still thinks nuclear bombs aren't a fraud
jej'd tbqh

Even if so, there are bound to be some serious tech out there can replicate similar scales pf destruction.

These aren't necessarily FBI SLIDE THREADS. I also want to browse this board more casually, and not just constantly go hard as fuck talking about politics. Cred Forums in its natural state is a mixture of essentially meaningless bullshitting and intelligent discussion. They engender each other.

thanks lads.

Also many Russian nuclear subs are under artic and they can launch nuclear missiles throu ice.

>Can kill 50+ million people in a few hours.

Totally wrong.

The deathtoll of one of these would not surpass something around 15 to 20 million because this is the number of ppl living in the most populated city on the planet (probably a city in India, Chnia or maybe Japan). No city on Earth has 50 million ppl. This one is not a MIRV.

And these things usually needs only 50 minutes to reach their destination, and not "hours".

Go learn something useful you potato eater.

Yup. Even the apogee is extremely difficult to hit due to the velocities involved.

Yep. Most of us are engineers here. So yeah strongest one can kill up to 10 million only in some spezific places on earth. With long time effects it can easily reach 15-20 million. But thats it.

However something important here. If you use 100 of this you won't kill 1 billion people. You will kill everyone. Thats why nukes are itself retarded. Using to much on enemy territory will fuck you too even if they don't defend themself.

>If you use 100 of this you won't kill 1 billion people. You will kill everyone.
Well, maybe not. Global air currents tend to keep fallout around the same latitude. So while the northern hemisphere might be fucked, if you live in South America or Africa you might be okay. It's possible Australia would be involved, but probably not to the same extent as NA/Europe/Asia.

We the advent of "El Niño" and "La Niña" changing the heat of the planet, and therefore the way the wind blows, the Kraut may be right.

We would receive some good dose of fallout even if no part of the south hemisphere would get hit.

...

aa, now I understand
Thank you for this post m8

In the 50s there was entire buiseness branch in Las Vegas focused on this.

People would grill, have parties, and then put sunglasses on and watch tests on Nevada desert.

retarded question from a retarded person

is it still a huge challenge destroy these things from the air?

So you're actually a retard that wants to see the catalog filled with election trash?
Good for you.
This thread is more interesting than 90% of what's in the catalog right now.
Fuck off.

Are these the phallic trucks you see in North Korean war parades?

MiliRads?

Depending on the distance, place and whatnot. But for the most part, yes.

I heard Bush bought up land in Tierra del Fuego (southern tip of South America) after he left office, I guess this is a good illustration of why he might do that. It gets everywhere, but there's still an order of magnitude difference between the northern and southern hemispheres.

You realize this isn't a very political thread, right?

Same thing with Merkel buying land in SA.

It may be true or not. But lets be honest, nukes is something that ppl will only use in countries that have no way to cuonter they attack.

US and Russia would never attack each other with these things.

But UK would hit Argentina in the Falklands if this was necessary.

It is what it is.

Space, actually, not air. Re-entry into atmosphere happens at high velocity, and at that point, they split up into several tiny MIRVs, good luck hitting any of that!

They actually had nuclear counter-measures, but ABM treaties shut that down, since it would considerably weaken the deterrant factor of mutually assured destruction, and thus make escalation more likely.

That was the case, until dumbass Bush decided to go into warhawk-mode and restart the cold war by withdrawing from the treaty.

The rest is history; the various failed attempts to shut down Russia's Black Sea activity, first via Georgia, then Ukraine, and their naval base in Tartus, Syria...all part of the great game.

Neither politically correct nor incorrect.

>This is what vatniks actually believes

I do agree with you
This kind of mobile launcher and the launch of R36 (SS-18)

>ICBM are Russia exclusive

Not gonna lie, that thing went up much faster than I tough it would.

I always tought that these mobile ICBMs would take like 20 minutes to be put in stand position to be fired.

Nicely done.

Not at all.

We ara a tribal species user. And we break down ppl in the most different ways: americans and non americans, whites and blacks, chrsitians and jews, ppl from the bibble belt and ppl from the west coeast and so on.

This is actually a way of protection we had when we was still in caves dealing with agressive enviroment and other tribes.

This "we are just one race, the human race" its comeple stupid. We are a family drive, tribal gatherer species.

The only way, I think, of uniting the entire species, would have a major treat comming from outside our planet. Like an asterod or even another species.

If not, we will still break ourselves down in Americans and Russians, Westerns and Easterns, capitalists and socialists and so on.

What is that? Is there a way to survive, if you have a bunker, for example?

How many years before you can get out?

So according to you, because you already know something, that something can no longer intrigue other people?

Go fuck yourself man. If this guy just discovered this and is amazed by its capabilities, be happy for him and share your knowledge instead of shitposting and trying to make other people feel bad you fat betacuck.

>We ara a tribal species user
And now that trait has the very real potential to end our species.

Not really.

The leader of each group that posses such weapons will have to take into account that if they launch an attack, they will get a similar one that will end up obliterating both parties.

Once they realize this, the self-preservation instinct will kick in and they will just not use it.

>Can travel anywhere on earth

>Brazil on the job of being retarded.

It's MIRV you idiot, how can you be so stupid?

There were already more than 2000 test detonations, two major incidents (Czarnobyl and Fukushima) and we are still here, chillin. Hell, people even live in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There will probably be bigger chances of cancer and all the cities would be deserts, but in 5 years things would be back to relative normal.

He was clearly talking about the warhead, not the truck...

>The leader of each group that posses such weapons will have to take into account that if they launch an attack, they will get a similar one that will end up obliterating both parties.
Of course, and that's probably the only thing that's kept it from happening already. But what happens when some leader or group that isn't so rational gets their hands on nuclear weapons? Or one side develops a technology that allows them to effectively defend against the other side's weapons? All bets are off, then.

keked

Sure it makes sense, haven't you realized that humans are the problem?

Most of this drops where in deserts and underground. Calculated to have the least effect.

>200m CEP

This triggers me. A missile designed in the 90s with that kind of CEP is shameful.

The Nazis are already there.

dun gufed, son

>It's MIRV you idiot, how can you be so stupid?
Not the one posted it.
He is MIRV capable, but not a MIRV because it is using just one warhead.

Come on janitor, you really think you can outsmart a monkey?

>Of course, and that's probably the only thing that's kept it from happening already. But what happens when some leader or group that isn't so rational gets their hands on nuclear weapons?

Like Iran? Nothing desu. UN is doing a shitty job there. Still, if you think that muslims are a treat and should not have nukes, them how to explain the fact that Pakistan dind't started the nuclear holocaust against Israel (jews) and India (Cashmire). They also have self preservtion.

Make no mistake, the suice bombers and alike are all normal, low tier ppl. The leaders "religious or politicians" of these countries want to live as much as you and me. And since they are the ones weith the codes, they will not start a war because of the results they would bring to themselves.

>Or one side develops a technology that allows them to effectively defend against the other side's weapons? All bets are off, then.

That would be very difficult because spionage would render such technology hard to keep it quiet.

And them again, if one had developed such tech, the other parts would start to develop the same thing right away.

The thing is that the world works on weights and counter-weights of every kind. The thing will only crumble if the pendulum goes to one side to the point that everything on the other side could not catch up in time. But them again, this is almost impossible.

Just look at US investing billions in stealth tech while other countries are investin in Radars to knowck down said tech. This is how it works.

On top of that, we like to talk about nukes because of the "romantic" view we got from movies and books about surviving in the Westland.

But by far, the most powerful weapon humans have in their arsenal are biological ones.
