On May 11. 1940, Churchill directly phoned bomber command, bypassing parliament and other instances, sending huge amounts of bombers to germany, bombing worker homes, killing thousands. These air raids continue and in september 1940, Hitler gave a speech that if Britain does not stop, the luftwaffe will come to britain (speech to be found on youtube). At that time, Berlin alone already received 7 bombing raids. The cowardly anglo had to fly at night because during daylight, anti air weapons would have fucked them up. They would have attacked sooner but the nights weren't long enough yet to leave and return to britain during night. When britain didn't stop, Germany send bombers to britain.
How warfare was to be done was "described" in the geneva war laws, i.e. you can bomb cities when your army was at their doors. This was true for basically every major german attacks on foreign cities, except britain for obvious reasons. The illegal terror bombing started by the brits was answered by another illegal terror bombing (on a far smaller scale). But this was justified under the war laws because you were allowed to use illegal methods to stop another aggressor who used illegal methods in order to stop him using said illegal methods.
Many british historians (like AJP Talyor) saw german retaliation as justified, and it was (but rather meaningless at that point).

At that point, the soviets could stop or destroy all the supply lines giving germany the possibility to wage war... and that at a time when the biggest military in the world was moved to assault Germany/Europe. At that point, Hitler immediately went away from britain and put everything to work to crush the coming doom from the east, making sure to keep the supplys coming. And they actually succeeded. They destroyed the biggest military, went to the gates of moscow and kept the resources coming. The push back to germany was only possible due to lend lease (and german traitors).
With barbarossa, all of Europe would be communist right now because everything in Europe was a joke compared to the soviet military might.

They even had their hands in Hitler gaining power in 1932/33.
